In the south of the Weinviertel, in the small village of Ollersdorf, lies the Weingut Veit. Günter, Gerlinde and Roland Veit continue the family tradition that has existed for several generations.

Roland, Gerlinde and Günter Veit

The Weingut Veit at the gateway to the Weinviertel region

Ollersdorf is considered the "gateway to the Weinviertel", which stretches from the north around Vienna to the east. The Veit family can draw on the experience of several generations, giving them the tools to make a true "wine of today". The philosophy of the Weingut Veit is to produce dense, varietal and fruity wines with an attractive price-performance ratio.

Terroir and grape varieties on the estate

12 hectares of vineyards belong to the estate, where different grape varieties are cultivated. The most important are:

  • Grüner Veltliner
  • Welschriesling
  • Riesling
  • Zweigelt

The vineyards of the Veit family

The Veits ' vineyards are located in the north on the edge of a forest, which provides natural protection. From the south, warm air from the Pannonian region carries into the vineyards, whose soils are characterized by clay loess. In addition, the river March flows nearby, which has a balancing effect on the climate.

The south-facing slopes allow the grapes to soak up plenty of sun. In order to increase the quality of the grapes, the Veits carry out a very thorough green harvest and deliberately reduce the yield of the vines in order to give the best grapes the necessary strength.

The wines of the Veits

The story of VEITliner

In the cellar, Günter Veit takes care of turning the grapes into wine. He is supported by Manfred Veit in marketing. For example, the "VEITLiner", the interpretation of the Weinviertel's leading grape variety, can be traced back to him.

The Weingut Veit is regularly mentioned in professional publications like the Falstaff Weinguide, in which they have already been awarded several times and thus see themselves confirmed in their path.
