The Trenz winery has a long history, dating back 105 years, when the Spätlese was discovered in the Rheingau, more precisely in Johannisberg, in 1775. Over 230 years later, Trenz is one of the greats in the Rheingau and was named "Discovery of the Year" by the Gault Millau Wine Guide in 2008.
The secret of success of Weingut Trenz
The success of Weingut Trenz rests not only on the shoulders of excellent work in the vineyard and cellar, but is also based on old vines that make more complex wines possible. In addition, greatly limited yields increase extract and must weight. The final silt is provided by a late and selective harvest by hand and the careful pressing of the grapes.
Since 2002, the Trenz winery has been cultivating two hectares of vines under the name "TRENZ 2two" in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Here, wines are vinified from the grape varieties Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and aged in barriques to create powerful, spicy red wine cuveés.
Dedication and passion have won recognition. In 2008, the Trenz Winery was awarded 2 grapes by Gaut Millau as Discovery of the Year .
The innovations continue: since November 2016, the Trenz Winery has been producing a handcrafted Riesling GIN in collaboration with the Birkenhof Distillery from the Westerwald.
And if you are tempted to own a vine yourself, take care of it, pick the grapes and drink your own wine, you can become a hobby winemaker at the Trenz Winery by leasing a vineyard.
