Regional terroir combined with international wine styles - the philosophy of Weingut Lergenmüller is rewarded and scores with elegant white wines and powerful fruity red wines that cause an international sensation. The Burgundy varieties in particular are in the fast lane along the German Wine Route.
The Lergenmüller wine dynasty from Hainfeld
The wine-growing tradition of the Lergenmüller winery dates back to 1538. The winery is located in the municipality of Hainfeld and is known for its strong, internationally competitive red wines as well as its white Burgundy wines, which delight with elegance and character. The favourable climatic conditions that prevail here in the Southern Palatinate contribute to the individuality and quality of the wines produced here, as do the multi-faceted terroir of the winery and the passion that the Lergenmüller family of winegrowers puts into their work.
Vineyard and grape varieties
The white wines of the Lergenmüller estate are grown on about 80 hectares of vineyards with over 200 plots in the best southern Palatinate locations. The grape varieties Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Scheurebe, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated in accordance with the climate and soil conditions. Most of the wines are vinified dry. But also noble sweet wines are offered in small quantities.
Lergenmüller's red wines grow in sites with mainly clay soils. The vines are tended manually and only healthy, fully ripe grapes are harvested. These are then gently pressed to ensure the integrity of the grape seeds. After maceration, the red wines are usually stored for 2 years in oak barrels and further years in the bottle until they have reached their final maturity and excellent taste.
List of grape varieties
The up to 355-metre-high vineyards are home to a rich variety of white and red varieties. These include not only the prioritised Burgundy varieties but also numerous local and international grape varieties from which the Lergenmüller Winery obtains its fully ripe harvest.
