More information

The Meyer-Näkel Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG is a first-class red wine. It presents a wonderfully bright, light red color. After the first swirling, one can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, because it neither stands out watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. In the glass, this Meyer-Näkel red wine offers aromas of plums, blueberries, black cherries and black currants, complemented by vanilla, oriental spices and gingerbread spice. This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 0.1 grams of residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine icon wine segment, this German wine naturally enraptures with the finest balance for all its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need a lot of sugar. Balanced and multifaceted, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG is fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Ahr finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of plum and blackberry. In the finish, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sandstone and loam are added.

Vinification of the Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG from Meyer-Näkel

The basis for the balanced Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG from the Ahr are grapes from the Spätburgunder grape variety. In the Ahr, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and sandstone. Moreover, the grapes of this red wine from Meyer-Näkel do not grow in the flat land, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler wine-growing regions with less long vegetation periods, the vines receive a maximum of sun. The Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Pinot Noir is influenced to a considerable degree by the climate of the growing region. In the Ahr, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate must weight. The grapes for this red wine from Germany are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimal ripeness. After the harvest, the grapes quickly reach the winery. Here they are selected and carefully ground. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG is aged for 16 months in oak barrels. The aging in oak barrels is followed by a considerable bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Food recommendation for the Meyer-Näkel Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder GG

Experience this red wine from Germany ideally tempered at 15 - 18°C as an accompanying wine to Boeuf Bourguignon, spicy curry with lamb or Ossobuco.
