White winedryGermanyRhine-Hesse (DE)Siefersheim (DE)
In the far west of Rheinhessen..
... amidst a picturesque landscape of steep hills, untouched streams, old quarries and overgrown rock walls lies Siefersheim - the home of the Wagner-Stempel winery.
in 1845 the foundation stone of the farm was laid. Earlier generations shaped the classic mixed farm into a well-known winery. Wagner-Stempel also helped the vineyard sites Höllberg and Heerkretz to national importance.
With the 9th generation..
... Daniel Wagner is now responsible for the wines of the Wagner-Stempel winery. Daniel's focus is on the classic grape varieties, such as
Silvaner
Pinot Blanc and
especially on the Riesling
in 2005, he converted the winery to organic farming - since 2008, the Wagner-Stempel winery has official certification.
The sites
Höllberg
Located north of Siefersheim is the Höllbergsite. Formed by volcanic rock and favorably situated in the lee, it is the warmest site in Siefersheim. Thanks to the stone-interspersed soils, powerful, dense wines with a pronounced minerality and fruity-spicy aromas are created here year after year.
Heerkretz
The Heerkretz site is located in the south of Siefersheim. This site is a rugged steep slope - completely open to the wind, exposed to cold air at night, and highly rugged with many scree slopes, quarries, and depressions. Heerkretz gives the wines its animating acidity, almost salty minerality, racy character and powerful, concentrated body.
VDP
Wagner-Stempel has been a member of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 2004.
