The Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva from Jean Leon is a fascinating, excellent and pure red wine from the Spanish DO Penedès region.
In the glass this wine shines in a rich garnet red with deep cherry red reflections. The expressive bouquet is supported by typical varietal aromas - juicy berries (currants, raspberries and blueberries) meet notes of precious woods and hints of spices. The palate is also pampered by the aromas of the nose. The body is wonderfully elegant and convinces with an unforgettable complexity. The texture is wonderfully soft and harmonizes perfectly with the balanced tannin structure and the delicate spicy toasted notes. The finish is pleasantly long and persistent.
Vinification of Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva
The single vineyard Vinya La Scala is criss-crossed by barren, stony soils and has a size of 8 hectares.
After the careful harvest and section of the grapes, the grapes are crushed in Jean Leon's winery for 2 weeks. This is followed by classic fermentation and biological acid degradation in stainless steel tanks. This wine is then aged for a total of 2 years in French oak barriques. For the harmonious overall picture, this Spanish red wine rests on the bottle for another 5 years before it leaves the winery.
Food recommendation for Jean Leon Gran Reserva Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon
Enjoy this dry red wine from Spain with hearty spicy meat dishes - especially with fillet of beef in a herb coat on a dark sauce mirror - or with duck and goose. Or serve this wine with medium-strong and smoked cheeses. We recommend that you decant this red wine before drinking it.
