Villa Sandi is located, framed by green hills, in the Italian province of Treviso. The splendid manor house, built in 1622 in the Palladian architectural style, today represents the headquarters of the company that unites the La Rivetta winery, the Montello and Colli Asolani wineries, the Valdobbiadene estate and the Silimbergo estate. The architecture of Villa Sandi blends perfectly with its surroundings, virtually entering into dialect with the surrounding nature, thus representing a harmonious relationship between man and the environment, which also comes into play when working in the wineries belonging to the villa.
The vineyard La Rivetta is located between the municipalities of Santo Stefano and San Pietro and covers about 1.5 hectares. The vines growing here benefit from a perfect combination of mild microclimate and fertile soil of ancient origin.
In Valdobbiadene, where a second Villa Sandi estate is located, the high number of sunshine hours is also used for viticulture. Its airy position makes this vineyard suitable for growing the best grapes and producing the great cru of Prosecco. Villa Sandi also purchases grapes from other vineyards in this region. These are strictly selected by the in-house oenologists and agronomists and used to produce elegant wines with fruity-floral aromas.
The winery of Montello and Colli Asolani collaborates with the Experimental Center for Viticulture in Conegliano and, in addition to traditional techniques, uses the latest findings of this institution for the cultivation of its wines. Located in the heart of Montello and in the hills of Valdobbiadene, the rich soil and the climate allow the cultivation of great red wines such as
Cabernet Sauvignon,
Cabernet Franc
and Merlot.
The fourth of the Villa Sandi wineries is located in the village of Spilimbergo. The vineyard, which covers about 50 hectares in the Grave del Friuli area, is located in a plain characterized by alluvial soils. The abundance of gravel and stones has positive effects on the ripening process of the grapes grown here: during the day they reflect the light of the sun, but store the heat so that strong temperature fluctuations are avoided. In this way the beginning of the harvest can be delayed a little, the ripe grapes are more sugary and very aromatic.
Villa Sandi grape varieties
The winemakers of Villa Sandi cultivate in Spilimbergo mainly the grape varieties
Glera,
Pinot Grigio
and Ribolla Gialla
grapes.
