The Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva by Marchesi Antinori is presented in the glass in a bright ruby red. On the nose, distinctly intense fruity notes of ripe cherries and wild berries unfold, as well as well-integrated aromas of roasted wood, tobacco and a light balsamic nuance. On the palate, this Chianti Classico Riserva is captivating, lively, tasty, full-bodied, with soft and velvety tannins. The finish is long, delicate, determined, elegant and sustainable.
Vinification of Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva by Marchesi Antinori
For this fine Chianti Classico Riserva, Sangiovese is vinified to at least 90% and other red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to a maximum of 10%. After gentle destemming and pressing, the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks proceeds separately according to grape varieties at a controlled temperature of a maximum of 30°C. The maceration on the shells over 15 days serves to preserve aromas, structure and gentle tannins. The Sangiovese performs its alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the other red grape varieties in barriques second and third use, then the individual batches are married to wine. The ageing is then continued in wooden barrels, especially large barrels, a small proportion in barriques, until the following spring. After bottling in the summer, the wine matures in the bottle for at least three months before being sold.
A Chianti Riserva must be aged for at least 24 months from 1 January after harvesting, including at least 3 months of bottle storage.
With the inauguration of the new Chianti Classico cellars, the desire arose at Antinori to revive a historic label, which was first produced in 1928. 60% of the wine was aged in wooden barrels; the rest in small French and Hungarian barriques. A small proportion was removed in new barrels. The result is this unique Chianti Classico. The flagship of the Antinori family - pure Tuscany!
