Vignobles Comtes von Neippberg is a winery of the German noble family of the same name. The von Neippberg family has been associated with viticulture since the 13th century. The family's ancestral seat is located in northern Württemberg around the town of Schwaigern. Even then, the grapevine was a central element of the family's activities, which has been preserved to this day. While the family still cultivates their vineyards around their place of origin today, they also acquired vineyards in Saint-Émilionpiece by piece in the 1970s.

Stephan von Neippberg and his wife Sigweis

Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg - Wines of Nobility

Today,Stephan-Christoph von Neippberg and his wife Sigweis farm the land that his father brought into the family. From the beginning, he began to orient the viticulture with respect for the terroir and the surrounding nature, in a time when this was not a matter of course.

The family's French estate initially consisted of four wineries:

  • Château Canon La Gaffelière
  • La Mondotte
  • Clos de l'Oratoire
  • Château Peyreau

The present time

in 1985, Christoph took over the management and built the reputation of the estates. The exploration of new terroirs was also important to him. Thus, over time, Château d'Alguilhe and Clos Marsalette were added. In addition, he still brought wineries into the family, which are not in the region of Saint-Émilion, or even France. Thus, Château Giraud in Bordeaux, Capaia in South Africa and Bessa Valley in Bulgaria are part of the Vignobles Comtes of Neippberg.

La Mondotte

Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg shows respect for land and grape

Due to their many different vineyards and terroirs, the Vignobles Comtes von Neippberg offer a broad portfolio that has something for everyone. The ecological thought, which has been consistently pursued by the Neippbergs since 1988, was rewarded in 2014 with the eco-certification of Château Canon de Gaffelière and La Mondotte

In the cellar, the grapes are processed extremely carefully. Fermentation here is temperature-controlled in large wooden vats, and to ensure a good aroma, a pneumatic pigeage has been used since 1997, which regularly re-submerges the marc and thus fully exploits the potential of the grapes. Aging takes place separately by parcel in barriques. On average, the wines are aged for 18 months.
