More information about Verduzzo Venezia Giulia 0,5 l - Russiz Superiore

The Russiz Superiore Verduzzo Venezia Giulia is a first-class dessert wine in a glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, golden yellow color. This dessert wine has a vibrant color in the center. When the glass is swirled, this dessert wine reveals a high level of viscosity, which can be seen in the strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of Verduzzo Venezia Giulia reveals pears, Nashi pears and vineyard peaches. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing and even more fruity, balsamic nuances.

The Verduzzo Venezia Giulia can rightly be described as particularly fruity and velvety, as it has been vinified with a pleasantly sweet taste profile. This creamy and silky dessert wine is full-bodied and complex on the palate. The finish of this dessert wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region, which has good ageing potential, is convincing with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sandstone and clay-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Russiz Superiore Verduzzo Venezia Giulia

The powerful Verduzzo Venezia Giulia from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Friulano grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and sandstone soils in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Due to the balancing influence of the nearby sea, the grapes ripen more slowly and have more aromatic depth. The Verduzzo Venezia Giulia is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of Old World wines. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for Verduzzo Venezia Giulia are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the grape harvest, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Verduzzo Venezia Giulia is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. The ageing in wooden barrels is followed by extensive bottle ageing, which makes this dessert wine even more complex.

Dining recommendation for the Verduzzo Venezia Giulia from Russiz Superiore

This dessert wine from Italy is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to baked apples with yoghurt sauce, coconut and kefir cream or yoghurt mousse with poppy seeds.
