The Valbuena 5° (5 anos) of Vega Sicilia is one of the hallmarks of Spanish viticulture. It comes into the glass with youthful fullness and fruit and shows up here in a cherry to crimson color.
The Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5 ° pampers the nose with delicate ethereal nuances of Mediterranean undergrowth, balsamic notes and sensual fruitiness, with shadow morals as well as wild berries in the foreground.
On the palate, the Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5 ° delights with elegantly developed, velvety soft tannins, ingeniously balanced extract and fresh acidity. After the Alion, this complex wine is the consequent next step in the fascinating world of Vega Sicilia wines.
Vinification of the Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5 °
The grapes for the Valbuena 5 ° grow on soils that are mostly rocky and barren and are dominated by limestone with varying proportions of clay, stone and limestone. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately brought to the winery and here cold mashed in the barrel for 3-5 days and then fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts.
After alcoholic fermentation, the Valbuena 5 ° is transferred from Vega Sicilia into new and used barrels (8500 litres down to the barrique) made of French and American oak and aged for about 20 months. After bottling, the wine matures for another three years until Valbuena 5 ° is allowed to leave the winery after a total of five years of maturity.
Food recommendation to the Valbuena 5 ° of Vega Sicilia
This red wine from Vega Sicilia is the pride of the Ribera del Duero region. It goes perfectly with grilled meat of game and beef, with roasts, lamb, mushrooms and game or a strong soup.
