Val delle Rose

Passion for the Sangiovese grape is the origin of the Val delle Rose winery in Maremma and its excellent Italian wines.

With over a hundred years of experience in the world of wine and viticulture, supported by the knowledge and understanding that a region cannot be represented only by a single place of origin of its wines, the Cecchi family acquired the third winery in 1996. They already own the Cecchi Winery and the Villa Cerna Winery.

Val delle Rose, in the heart of Maremma, in the emerging wine-growing area of Morellino di Scansano, has just 25 hectares of vineyards, but the investment is like a small agricultural revolution, because the technologies used up to that time were not capable of providing a uniform and constant quality that would have ensured the survival of the winery.

Maremma represents one of the new horizons of quality Italian viticulture. Attentive and intense research of the soils, a practice that many other wine producers will subsequently make in Maremma, shows the enormous potential that lies in this terroir. Thus, the company decides to increase its own vineyards to the current 100 hectares, where the Sangiovese plays the main role.

One of the most important and emerging areas in Italian viticulture is the Morellino di Scansano area, which has developed so much that in 2007 it received the DOCG designation. The entire wine-growing area covers 1200 hectares of vineyards in six municipalities near Grosseto. Scansano is located at about 500 meters above sea level. The vineyards face the sea on the slopes around Scansano and are favored by the Mediterranean maritime climate.

Val delle Rose produces four terroir wines, a white Vermentino, a Morellino di Scansano and its Riserva, and a red blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, in the name Aurelio a tribute to the Maremma and the main Roman trade route Via Aurelia.
