The history of the Torre Rosazza winery goes back to the time of the Romans, who planted the first vines and harvested grapes in the region around Oleis. As they recognized, the terroir here in the eastern hills of Friuli lent itself very well to viticulture. Therefore, in the following years, efforts were made to maintain the tradition of this craft. The Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Rosazzo, for example, played an important role in this.
A severe frost at the beginning of the last century led the agricultural sector, which until then had profited mainly from the region's olives, to turn to the new cultivation of vines. The cultivation of and trade in wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia began to flourish.
In 1979 Torre Rosazza was taken over by Genagricola. The company began research into the quality of the soil and made targeted purchases of land whose orientation and geological makeup would be ideal for Torre Rosazza's vines. The investments paid off: today Torre Rosazza impresses with wines such as the fresh white wine Friulano or the Pinot Grigio. The oenologist in charge of the winery is Luca Zuccarello, who is assisted by the dedicated cellar master Enrico Raddi.
