Tenuta Pèppoli of Marchesi Antinori

Tenuta Pèppoli, whose origins date back to the 14th century, is 100 hectares, 50 of which are planted as vineyards, just five kilometers from Tenuta Tignanello, in the heart of the Chianti Classico production area in Tuscany. 

Tenuta Pèppoli and the Florentine nobility

Historically, the Tenuta Pèppoli estate once belonged to the Badia di Passignano, but when the monastery was partially destroyed, the lands were divided among the Florentine nobility. In the 16th century one of the families built a small chapel, which today restored to its original splendor. Since the Middle Ages, the vineyards of Tenuta Pèppoli have been tended and cultivated by the monks.
Since 1985 it has been one of the estates of the ancient noble family of the Marchesi Antinori, who have been rooted in wine growing in Tuscany for 26 generations. 

Chianti Classico DOCG and organic olive oil from Tenuta Pèppoli

The vineyards, facing east, north-east, have an ideal microclimate thanks to their location in a small valley protected from the heat, with stony soils rich in minerals, which give the Sangiovese a fruity and lively character. Here are grown mainly Sangiovese and a small percentage of complementary grape varieties, Syrah, Merlot and Malvasia Toscana. In addition, there are 27 hectares of olive groves with 5500 plants, including some centenary ones, for the production of Pèppoli organic virgin olive oil. 
The aging of the only wine, the Chianti Classico DOCG of Tenuta Pèppoli is nowadays largely carried out in the new cellar facilities of Antinori nel Chianti Classico, traditionally in large Slavonian oak barrels and a small part in stainless steel tanks.

Tenuta Pèppoli produces from its own olive groves the organic Olio di Oliva Extra Vergine Pèppoli, as well as the Pèppoli Aceto di Vino Rosso, wine vinegar made directly from the estate's wine.
