Tenuta Montenisa in the heart of Franciacorta

Tenuta Montenisa is located in the heart of Franciacorta, very close to the village of Calino. The landscape and architecture here are characterized by rolling hills and moraine valleys, palaces, monasteries, abbeys and small churches. Legend has it that the name Franciacorte comes from "Petite France", the name given to the region by Charlemagne.

The history

Some link the name of the village of Calino to ancient Greece, others derive the name from the Latin "callis" meaning small street.

The property was inherited by Lavinia Calini, who married Gaetano Maggi, at the end of the 19th century. Since then the estate has been owned by the noble family from Brescia. Finally, in 1999, Marchesi Antinori and Tenuta Montenisa joined forces.

The vineyards of Tenuta Montenisa

The vineyards of Tenuta Montenisa are planted with the typical Franciacorte grape varieties: Chardonnay with its typical floral and fruity notes, Pinot Nero for structure and personality, and the mineral Pinot Bianco.

The historic vineyards of the estate are located on de, hill of S. Stefano. The wines are intensely fragrant, complex and balanced.

The wineries of Tenuta Montenisa

The building complex of Tenuta Montenisa is surrounded by splendid archways. Under these are the cellars for the vinification and aging of the wines. Here the Tenuta Montenisa wines are given plenty of time to mature on their lees. The remuage is still carried out by paying the utmost attention to each bottle.
