The winery Luce della Vite from Montalcino is inspired in the vinification by the beauty of nature, the balance of life and the power of the sun.
Luce della Vite - the light of the vines
For Luce della Vite wine springs from these facets, revealing elegant structure with opulent aromas from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes - simply a super Tuscan of joie de vivre.
Where the sun shines on Tuscany
The trademark of Tuscan wine producer Luce della Vite is the twelve-tongued sun. A sign that one encounters more frequently throughout central Italy, whether on cobblestones during a walk or on the keystones above archways. It is a sign of life, a divine sign that radiates warmth. The warmth that is reflected in the Sangiovese and Merlot wine of the winery.
The Luce della Vite Winery
The vineyards of Luce della Vite are located near the medieval town at an amazing altitude. Between 350 and 420 meters above sea level, 55 hectares of vines are planted with Merlot and Sangiovese. The higher elevations provide clayey slate soil for the Sangiovese grape, while Merlot thrives on loamy soils in the lower elevations. The sun shines equally on the entire vineyard. Perfect climatic conditions ensure complex aromas and elegantly structured wines.
After selective harvesting, the grapes enter the cellar, where they are crushed separately and fermented under temperature control in stainless steel tanks or cement vats. Only after fermentation are the wines combined, be it the classic harmony of Sangiovese and Merlot for the Luce della Vite, also Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese for the Lux Vitis or all three grape varieties for the Lucente from Tenuta Luce. A varietal Sangiovese can be found with the Luce Brunello. Finally, the wines are aged for months in partly new, partly old oak barrels.
The Luce della Vite wines
LuceIGT Toscana: powerful, balanced red wine in purple body, aromas of ripe red fruits, incense, complex flavor profile, supported by elegant tannins
Luce Brunello di Montalcino: dense purple color, dark ripe fruits with licorice, tobacco as well as truffle, creamy body, refined structure with velvety tannins, elegant finish
Lucente IGT Tosacana: bright red, soft, full-bodied, fruity notes of blackberry, plum and currant, toasted and vanilla notes, sweet-fruity finish
The beginning of the Luce della Vite winery
The story of the relatively young Montalcino winery begins with Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, who were united by one goal: to create a wine that fuses the boundaries of tradition and modernity. With the union of the two families, Luce della Vite was able to draw on a wealth of experience. Despite all the knowledge, nature plays a weighty role in which the winery does not interfere. Because the beauty of the land, the perfect terroir, is primarily responsible for the grape varieties that thrive magnificently. Today, oenologist Lamberto Frescobaldi is in charge of creating the wines from Tuscany that are aged in wood and are full of character.
