The Prince of the Rossos

In the province of Livorne, along the coast of the Tyhrenian Sea, stretches the DOC region of Bolgheri. The wines produced here are among the best in all of Tuscany and Italy. Since 1994 the Denominazione di Origine Controllata is valid not only for rosé and white wines but also for the Rossos, which have been pressed here since the time of the Etruscans. The vineyards of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia are located on the beautiful Viale dei Cipressi. At 50-120 meters above sea level, the vineyards are planted with vines of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. founded in 1981 by Lodovico Antinori in collaboration with Californian oenologist André Tchelistcheff, the leadership has changed more frequently in the last 20 years, which has not diminished the quality of the Supertoscans.
