Tenuta Castiglioni - the origin of Frescobaldi's family viticulture
The history of the Frescobaldi family's viticulture began at Tenuta Castiglioni around the year 1300. Already during the Renaissance, their wines were drunk at many European courts. The Frescobaldi family owes its important position among the most famous wine producers at European level to the combination of terroir and its spirit of innovation. Tenuta di Castiglioni, located between the Tyrrhenian Sea and Florence, has a relatively dry and hot microclimate, refreshed at night by a light sea breeze. Noble grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay are present in the winery, since 1990 the famous oenologist Nicoló D' Afflito and his team of agronomists and oenologists support Frescobaldi. The winery has been in the family since the 11th century, the noble coat of arms of the Frescobaldi family with the crown, the shield and the three rocks on the labels, is also symbolic of Castiglioni as a reminder of the more than 700 years of viticulture that began from there.
