The Tawny 30 Years Old from Taylor's Port is an impressive, excellent Prot wine from the Portuguese wine-growing region DOC Douro. This wine is made from the grape varieties Tinta Cao, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Amarela.
In the glass this wine shimmers in a bright amber with mahogany shades. The nose is sweet and fruity, with dried yellow fruit, caramelised orange peels, freshly ground coffee and subtle toasted notes. On the palate this port wine convinces with an impressive power and juicy body. The fine sweetness harmonises wonderfully with the aromas of the nose and is complemented by orange jam and creamy caramel. The sweet finish is wonderfully round and long.
Vinification of Taylor's Port Tawny 30 Years old
Matured Tawny with age indication requires first of all the art of blending and wise foresight on the evolution of the wine during its long maturing period in the barrel. Each Tawny is composed from the beginning for its specific age: 10, 20, 30 or 40 years and must always have its characteristic style and taste. Even if this port is always composed from different wines and vintages.
The grapes for this wine are harvested exclusively by hand and brought to the Taylor's Port cellar, where they are destemmed and fermented in open stainless steel tanks. As soon as half of the sugar is fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by adding high-proof distillate. This preserves the natural residual sweetness of this wine. Finally, this port wine matures for 30 years in wooden barrels until it is bottled.
Food recommendation for the 30 Years Old Taylor's Tawny
Pass this port to nutty desserts and fine cakes with dark chocolate. Or enjoy this wine with spicy hard cheese (like Parmesan and Manchego).
