Stellenrust

One of the largest, still family-run wineries in South Africa is Stellenrust in the Stellenbosch wine region. Wine has been produced here since 1928. Generation after generation has worked here on the progress of the estate, and so today you can reap the fruits of their own diligence.

In addition to their own wine, Stellenrust has recently started offering other wineries the opportunity to have their grapes vinified by them and sold under their own name. This offer gave rise to their own wine series JJ Handmade on the side, which are made only by hand and no machine comes close to the wine. Stellenrust likes to call this his "French influence."

The Golden Triangle of Stellenrust

Half of the Stellenrust estate vineyards are located in the "Golden Triangle," a sub-region of Stellenbosch that produces some of South Africa's finest red wines. The other half is found in the Bottelary Hills, which, with their cool climate and fresh sea air, provide wonderful foundations for white wines. 

Today, the wines of Stellenrust are divided into 4 quality levels:

• Small Rust
• Premium
• Super Premium
• Ultra Premium

Among them are wines from the typical grape varieties of South Africa such as Pinotage, Shiraz or Sauvignon Blanc. But a muscatel or sparkling wines are also represented.

Social commitment of Stellenrust

in 2005, the owners of Stellenrust decided to share their success with the longstanding team and do something to fight the consequences of apartheid, which lasted until 1994. They made their largely colored staff major shareholders in a quarter of their own vineyards and to this day are proud of this highly successful move.
