The barrel-aged Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon from the Western Cape wine-growing region presents itself in a dense purple red in the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Kaapzicht shows aromas of sour cherry, blueberry, redcurrant and plum, complemented by blackcurrant, toasted wood and fennel. The Kaapzicht Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine enthusiast. This red wine is never coarse or austere, as you would expect from a wine. This powerful and dense red wine is full-bodied and complex on the palate. The Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its concise fruit acidity. The finish of this well-matured red wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region, more precisely from Stellenbosch, impresses with a beautiful aftertaste.

Vinification of the Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon from Kaapzicht

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Cabernet Sauvignon. Only first-class grapes were brought in for this exceptionally powerful single-varietal wine from Kaapzicht. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 24 months.

This red wine from South Africa should ideally be served at a temperature of 15 - 18°C with boeuf bourguignon, boiled veal with beans and tomatoes or roasted veal liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce.
