The area under cultivation has reduced since then, to a now stable 5000 hectares, yet Silvaner remains one of the most widely grown grape varieties in this country. 75% of the Silvaner cultivation area is spread over Franconia and Rheinhessen, where the grape is one of the regions' leading varieties.
