Fontanafredda's Serralunga d'Alba Barolo DOCG presents a garnet red color with ruby highlights in the glass. In the large red wine or Bordeaux glass, this flagship unfolds intense aromas of dark fruit, complemented by vanilla, spices and roses. Mineral nuances and hints of undergrowth perfectly round out the bouquet of Fontanafredda Serralunga Barolo.
On the palate, this Barolo from Fontanafredda is absolutely dry, yet soft and velvety. A full-bodied and harmonious red wine from Fontanafredda with a long-lasting finish.
Vinification of the Fontanafredda Serralunga d'Alba Barolo
This single-varietal Barolo is vinified Nebbiolo grapes whose vines are rooted in soils of limestone, gray marl and sand. After the grapes are harvested in October, fermentation follows in the traditional way. The fermentation is temperature-controlled and takes place in stainless steel tanks for 15 days. The must remains in contact with the skins for another 15 days to optimize the extraction of color and aromas.
Subsequently, this red wine is aged in barriques for one year and in large French oak barrels for another year. To give the Serralunga d'Alba Barolo the final touch, it is aged in bottle for at least another year.
