The Scheurebe Thüngersheimer Johannisberg from the wine-growing region of Franconia presents itself in the glass in brilliantly shimmering light yellow. When swirling the glass, this white wine is characterized by a wonderful brilliance that makes it dance nimbly in the glass. In the glass, this white wine from Bickel-Stumpf reveals aromas of lemons, oranges, limes, pomelo and gooseberries, complemented by lovage, juniper and Mediterranean herbs. This white from Bickel-Stumpf is a good choice for all wine enthusiasts who like as little residual sugar in the wine as possible. At the same time, it never shows itself to be meager or brittle, as one would naturally expect from a wine in this price range.
On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Scheurebe Thüngersheimer Johannisberg is fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this white wine from the wine-growing region of Franconia finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of grapefruit and kumquat. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone and sandstone dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Bickel-Stumpf Scheurebe Thüngersheimer Johannisberg
This elegant white wine from Germany is made from the grape variety Scheurebe. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Franconia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and sandstone. The Scheurebe Thüngersheimer Johannisberg is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines.
The ripeness of the grapes for this wine from Scheurebe is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Franconia, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate must weight. After the grape harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Scheurebe Thüngersheimer Johannisberg is allowed to further harmonize on the fine lees for several months.
