More information about Saint-Estèphe AOC - Chateau Ormes de Pez

The barrel-aged Saint-Estèphe from the Bordeaux wine-growing region presents itself in the glass in dense purple. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Chateau Ormes de Pez reveals aromas of blackberries and black currants, complemented by licorice and vanilla. This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It has been bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities, and so this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an immensely silky texture. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux, more precisely from Saint-Estèphe, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the gravel-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Saint-Estèphe from Chateau Ormes de Pez

The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful cuvée Saint-Estèphe from Chateau Ormes de Pez are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in Bordeaux. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of gravel. Obviously, Saint-Estèphe is also defined by more than just the Saint-Estèphe soil. This Frenchman can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is extraordinarily impressive. The berries for this red wine from France, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the grapes are harvested, they are taken by the fastest route to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the powerful Saint-Estèphe is aged for another 16 months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for Chateau Ormes de Pez Saint-Estèphe

This red wine from France is best enjoyed at a temperate 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce, cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables or veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes.
