More information about Saint-Émilion AOP Grand Cru Classé - Château Grand Mayne

In the glass, the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from Château Grand Mayne presents a dense purple color. With a bit of lateral position, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet red tone at the edges. Giving it some air in the glass by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, evident in church windows at the rim of the glass. The first nose of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé flatters with notes of plums and blackberries. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as tobacco, vanilla and leather.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally low residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Frenchman enchants naturally with all dryness with the finest balance. Taste does not necessarily require residual sugar. This velvety red wine is full-bodied and complex on the palate. The final of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux, more precisely from Saint-Emilion, finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by clay and limestone.

Vinification of Château Grand Mayne Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

This powerful red wine from France is vinified from the Cabernet Franc and Merlot grape varieties. In Bordeaux, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and clay. Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the hand harvest, the grapes immediately enter the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 18 months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from Château Grand Mayne

This French red wine is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to veal escalope with beans and tomatoes, boeuf bourguignon or lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs.
