More information about Saint-Émilion AOP Grand Cru Classé - Château Clos Saint-Émilion Philippe

The barrel-aged Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from the Bordeaux winemaking region shows a dense purple color in the glass. With a bit of side lay, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet red hue at the rims. As the wine glass swirls, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, evident in strong church windows at the rim of the glass. The first nose of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé reveals nuances of plums, blackberries and sour cherries. The fruity hints of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as tobacco and chocolate.

On the palate, Château Clos Saint-Émilion Philippe's Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an immensely silky texture. The finale of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux, more precisely from Saint-Emilion, finally thrills with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by clay and sand.

Vinification of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from Château Clos Saint-Émilion Philippe

The basis for the powerful Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé from Bordeaux are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc and Merlot. In Bordeaux, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and clay. Of course, the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé is also determined by climate and viticultural style Saint-Emilion. This French wine can be described in the best sense of the word as an Old World wine that is exceptionally impressive. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the powerful Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé is aged for another 12 months in oak barrels.
