When winegrowing families join forces
The Rupert Family
Dr. Anton Rupert - the man who gave his name to these wines - was not only the founder of a global business empire, but was also a committed conservationist. Today, the Rupert family is passionate about vinifying world-class wines in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley and owns three other wine estates:
- La Motte Wine Estate
- L'Ormarins Wine Estate
- Anthonij Rupert Wyne
The Rothschild Family
In this family, it was Baron Edmond de Rothschild who took on the vision of his great-grandfather James de Rothschild and continued to expand the wine portfolio. Today, the Rothschild family is known for top wines and owns vineyards in the countries:
- France
- Spain
- Argentina
- New Zealand
- South Africa
The wines of the partnership
in 1997, Dr. Anton Rupert of South Africa and Baron Edmond de Roth schild of France jointly founded Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons. The brand stands for three distinctive wines.
The varietal white wine - Baroness Nadine - known after the wife of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The flagship Bordeaux blend - named after the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild - and the classic red cuvée - one of the best-selling and most sought-after South African red wines in its category.
