The winery Rudi Pichler exists since 1731 and is one of the emerging top producers of the Wachau in Austria.
Winery Rudi Pichler - traditional winery with top wines
Its sites are located in the World Heritage Site around Joching, Wösendorf, Weißenkirchen and Mautern. Produced on the 15 hectares of vineyards are mainly characterful white wines from an amazingly large portfolio when you consider that we are talking about a relatively small winery. In addition to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, Rudi Pichler cultivates Pinot Blanc and the usually voluminous Red Veltliner.
Shortened fermentation, extended enjoyment
The winemaker understands the art of giving wines from each category their own character. The Federspiel of Grüner Veltliner, for example, is always a favorite among wine connoisseurs. It combines the drinking style with classic Wachau varietal expression. With the great Smaragden, Rudi Pichler as well as the next generation, consisting of Theresa and Rudi junior, succeed in beautifully bringing out the terroir. If you give these wines some time and enjoy them only after a few years, the palate will be rewarded even more. RudiPichler relies selectively on appropriate maceration times. The fermentation period, which tended to be longer in past years, has now been shortened again. It was found that this simply suits the intended style better. The result is nuanced, top-class wines with a very individual character.
Room for the unique at Rudi Pichler
The modern winery is not only worth seeing from an architectural standpoint. The building, which was ceremoniously opened in 2004, has since also provided the dedicated winemaker with the space to press his unique wines under ideal conditions. RudiPichler 's new characterful series is characterized by an immense mineral radiance, tautness and depth in aromatics. The different terroirs are very precisely developed. It is a pleasure to taste these wines, especially the outstanding Grüner Veltliner and the Riesling Achleithen. The Falstaff editors voted RudiPichler"Winemaker of the Year 2010". A wine enjoyment that is therefore worthwhile.
