More information about Rouge Valais AOC - Château Lichten

The Rouge Valais from Château Lichten in Valais shows a bright purple color in the glass. If you give it some air in the wine glass by swirling, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, because it does not stand out on the walls of the glass neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. To the nose, this Château Lichten red wine reveals all sorts of black currants, raspberries and blackberries.

The Château Lichten Rouge Valais presents itself to the connoisseur wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or meager, but round and smooth. Balanced and complex, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Rouge Valais flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Valais finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and black currant. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the sand-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Château Lichten Rouge Valais

The balanced Rouge Valais from Switzerland is a cuvée vinified from the grape varieties Cornalin and Syrah. In Valais, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand. After the hand harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Rouge Valais can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months.

Food recommendation for the Rouge Valais of Château Lichten

This red wine from Switzerland should be best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, spinach gratin with almonds or boeuf bourguignon.
