More information about Rosso di Montalcino DOC - Villa Poggio Salvi
This barrel-aged Rosso di Montalcino from the wine-growing region of Tuscany is a dense ruby red in the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine presents wonderfully expressive notes of violets, blackcurrants and roses in the glass. There are also hints of other fruits.
This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally low residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so, despite its dryness, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require residual sugar. The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky on the palate. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region impresses with its remarkable length. There are again hints of blackcurrant and rose. In the finish, mineral notes from the gravel-dominated soil are added.
Vinification of the Villa Poggio Salvi Rosso di Montalcino
This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Sangiovese grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on gravel soils in Tuscany. The grapes for Rosso di Montalcino are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of strenuous and barely selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.
