More information

Ramón Bilbao's Rioja Reserva DOCa glows in a dark garnet red in the glass. On the nose it shows a complex, intense bouquet, with aromas of ripe red fruits typical of Graciano and Mazuelo grape varieties. Beautiful acidic notes, as well as black fruits, the Tempranillo grape gives this wine with hints of cherries. In the background, spicy notes of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar wood and tobacco are noticeable.

On the palate, this red wine cuvée is body-rich, full-bodied, very balanced. Very ripe, soft and round tannins end in a long, tasteful finish with elegant roasted aromas and the interplay of red and black fruits.

Vinification of the Rioja Reserva DOCa of Ramón Bilbao

This red wine is one of the classics from Ramón Bilbao. It is vinified from 90% Tempranillo and 5% each from Mazuelo and Graciano, two traditional grape varieties from the Rioja wine region.  These two grape varieties give the cuvée a certain acidity and longevity.

The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with short maceration times, then aged for 20 months in American oak barriques. After bottling, it matures for another 20 months in the bottle to achieve its perfect balance.

Food recommendation for the Rioja Reserva DOCa of Ramón Bilbao

Enjoy this dry red wine with Iberico ham, strong meat dishes or cheeses such as pecorino, cheddar and comté.
