Ramos Pinto - Tawnys first class
When the artist Adriano Ramos Pinto founded the company of the same name in 1880 in the center of Porto to export port wine, he was relatively quickly interested in a young, growing market - Brazil. The business took off quickly and successfully, and he reached an agreement with his older brother, a photographer, on the division of core competencies within the company. Modern distribution methods and quality assurance measures quickly took the Ramos Pinto brand to the top of port wine distributors in the country. Thanks to the company's backbone, Brazil as a sales market, the Old World also quickly became aware of the fortified wine from Porto.
From trader to producer
Ramos Pinto has always been aware that the quality of wine begins in the dark soil of the Douro Valley. The logical conclusion was to acquire its own vineyard land, which has been consistently pursued since the beginning of the 20th century. Since the Bom Retiro estate was acquired by Ramos Pinto in 1919, the vineyard has expanded to over 210 hectares. The company, which had been successful until then, changed hands in 1990. From then on, it belongs to the Louis Roederer Group, responsible for the management is still the descendants of the founder Adriano Ramos Pinto.
