Quinta da Lixa

Quinta da Lixa was founded in 1986 by the Meireles family and has been in continuous family ownership ever since. Far up in the north of Portugal, in the Minho region known for fresh white wines, the Meireles family has dedicated itself to the production of sparkling Vinho Verde, the most famous white wine in Portugal.

Quinta da Lixa - Pure Vinho Verde

The vineyards of Quinta da Lixa were initially all located around the village of Vila da Lixa, but the yield was soon no longer sufficient to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for Quinta da Lixa wines. The connoisseur world had long since recognized that Vinho Verde was "en Vouge". So Quinta da Lixa was added and has served as the company's namesake ever since.

Since then, the success of the winery has continued to grow and a number of other Quintas have been added to Quinta da Lixa, namely

Today, the grapes for the wines of Quinta da Lixa ripen on no less than 105 hectares and delight the palates of wine lovers all over the world. Mainly white grape varieties are cultivated.

Of course, the classic Vinho Verde grape varieties Alvarinho, Azal, Loureiro and Trajadura occupy the largest part of Quinta da Lixa 's vineyards. They grow mostly on pergolas, so that the grapes are protected from the sun by the foliage and do not lose too much acidity in the ripening phase.
