Villa Maria 's Private Bin Pinot Noir is an elegant, grape-varietal red wine from the New Zealand Marlborough wine region on the South Island.
In the glass, this wine shines in a bright ruby red with cherry-red highlights. The bouquet reveals the grape variety typical aromas of ripe heart cherries and lush red berry fruit (especially raspberry and red currant) - accompanied by fine hints of spices and wild herbs. This New Zealand red wine also reflects the clear pinot fruit on the palate and is supported by a gentle tannin structure. The tannins give this wine a wonderful structure - but the red fruit fullness remains in the foreground. The long finale is accompanied by finely spicy accents.
Vinification of Villa Maria Private Bin Pinot Noir
The Pinot Noir grapes for this red wine originate from the vineyards of Awatere and Wairau Valley. After parcel, the berries are harvested and vinified in the wine cellar of Villa Maria according to parcels.
First, the readings are cold mashed in and then fermented in a stainless steel tank at a temperature of max. 32 degrees Celsius. After the fermentation process is complete, the mash is pressed and the bulk matures in French oak barriques. The smaller part is stored a little further in the steel tanks on the fine yeast and is then placed in the barriques for the batch. This red wine matures in the barrels for 9 months - the biological acid degradation is completely completed. This wine is gently filtered and poured onto the bottle.
