The Carneros Pinot Noir from Schug Winery comes into the glass with bright ruby red and smells wonderfully complex of sour cherries, strawberries, cassis and other red and black fruits. Nuances of light tobacco, soft leather, cedar wood, cloves and new oak complement the bouquet.
On the palate, this red wine starts pleasantly fruity. The fruit is followed by a lush, spicy texture and a long, velvety finish.
The vital fruit acid gives this pinot a wonderful freshness and a very good ripening potential. The wine is already a pleasure, but will develop excellently over the next 5-10 years.
Vinification of Pinot Noir Carneros by Schug
After careful hand-picking, this red wine is fermented in stainless steel tank for 6 - 8 days. The pomace hat is submerged three times a day. For malolactic fermentation, this wine is stored in oak barrels for 2 months. The wood is then aged in French barriques for 9 months (moderate toasting and 20% new barrels).
