More information about Nirvasco Barolo DOCG - Bersano

The powerful Nirvasco Barolo from Bersano flows into the glass with a dense ruby red color. With a little sideways movement, the Burgundy goblet reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. When the glass is swirled, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which can be seen in strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. On the nose, this Bersano red wine presents all kinds of roses, blueberries, lilacs, morello cherries and violets. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in small wooden barrels adds further aromas such as gingerbread spice, vanilla and dark chocolate.

The Bersano Nirvasco Barolo is wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or austere, as you would expect from an iconic wine segment. The Nirvasco Barolo presents itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its concise fruit acidity. On the finish, this mature wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region finally delights with its beautiful length. Once again, there are hints of blackberry and mulberry. On the finish, mineral notes from the clay and limestone-dominated soils are added.

Vinification of the Bersano Nirvasco Barolo

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Nebbiolo. Only flawless grapes were used for this wonderfully powerful single-varietal wine from Bersano. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Piedmont. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay and limestone soils. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the Nirvasco Barolo is aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels. The ageing in oak barrels is followed by a long period of ageing in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Recommended pairing for the Nirvasco Barolo from Bersano

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It goes perfectly with veal and onion casserole, stuffed peppers or spicy curry with lamb.
