More information

The Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG by Meyer-Näkel from the Ahr offers a bright, light red color in the glass. If you give it some air by swirling, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, because it neither stands out watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. Poured into a Burgundy goblet, this Old World red wine reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of blackberry, plum, blueberry and black cherry, rounded out by dark chocolate, oriental spices and black tea contributed by barrel aging

The Meyer-Näkel Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with only 0.1 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this German wine enchants naturally with all dryness with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily need residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully silky and dense. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG reveals itself to be exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Ahr finally inspires with considerable length. Again, there are hints of mulberry and plum. In the finish, mineral notes of the soils dominated by loess and loam are added.

Vinification of the Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG from Meyer-Näkel

The basis for the balanced Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG from the Ahr are grapes from the Spätburgunder grape variety. In the Ahr, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of loam and loess. The grapes of this red wine from Meyer-Näkel do not grow in the flat land, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler wine-growing regions with less long vegetation periods, the vines receive a maximum of sun. The Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Spätburgunder is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In the Ahr, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate must weight. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 16 months of maturation in oak barrels. The aging in wooden barrels is followed by a long bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Food recommendation for the Meyer-Näkel Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG
