Mouton Cadet Cuvée Héritage Bordeaux AOP 2018 - Baron Philippe de Rothschild
More information

That wines from Bordeaux belong to the absolute top class, you probably no longer need to tell anyone. The limited Mouton Cadet Bordeaux Héritage AOP from Baron Philippe de Rothschild impressively proves that this top class does not necessarily have to be unaffordable.

Just like its creator Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the Héritage red wine is also of impressive versatility and cosmopolitanism. This richness of facets is already evident in the color with which the Bordeaux wine flows into the red wine goblet. In the wonderfully sparkling crimson red with its dark reflexes, one would like to dip the paintbrush to refine a white canvas with it. We refrain from doing so, however, and rather hold our nose deep into the glass. That this was a good decision is confirmed by the olfactory receptors, which are met by a stunningly tightly bound, aromatic bouquet of well-ripened black currants, dark cherries and wild blueberries, supported by pleasantly warm spicy toasted notes and a subtle hint of sweet vanilla, which the Mouton Cadet Bordeaux Héritage AOP from Baron Philippe de Rothschild owes to its aging in oak barrels. The impressions of the nose are so dense that you almost involuntarily begin to chew, because you can almost taste the aromas.

The aromatic density then also glides benevolently and silkily over the tongue, which immediately begins to carefully taste the aromas. The red wine feels its way unhurriedly, without immediately hitting with a hammer and dumping the entire aroma package with a gush. Instead, the inclined wine lover is allowed to feel his way through the fruit palette, which is presented to him benevolently. The fruits unfold their full potential sip after sip. Abundant dark berries and some stone fruit are accompanied by a pleasant oak spice and fine vanilla. The well-structured tannins skillfully round out the enjoyment before the Mouton Cadet Héritage glides into a long, juicy finish.

Vinification of the Mouton Cadet Héritage

Baron Philippe de Rothschild's Héritage is a limited-production cuvée made largely from Merlot, supported by a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from selected plots, only healthy and fully ripe grapes are used. They are vinified separately from each other. All in all, the wine is aged for 24 months.

Food recommendations for Mouton Cadet Héritage

A red wine as aromatic as the Héritage best accompanies elaborate dark dishes such as Entrecôte with fried onion rings on broad pole beans and glazed carrots or braised lamb shoulder with wild garlic and goat cheese stuffing. Of course, you can also just cozy up in front of the fireplace with a glass of the Héritage and an aromatic cigar, just the way you like it. However, we recommend that you decant the wine two to three hours before consuming it and enjoy it at 16 to 19° C.
