The Morellino di Scansano DOCG by Fattoria Le Pupille appears in a ruby red colour with delicate purple reflections in the glass. The bouquet of this more coastal Tuscany red wine inspires us with aromas of ripe sour cherries, a hint of chocolaty Mon Cherí cherry, red and black berries such as raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant and a hint of violet. Add balsamic notes.
On the palate, the Morellino di Scansano of Le Pupille impresses with a vital fruit acidity and delicate but present tannins. The beautiful acidity harmonizes perfectly with the round and comprehensive tannins. Full-bodied body with long reverberation.
Vinification of Le Pupille Morellino di Scansano
The grapes for the Morrellino di Scansano of Pupille grow on a terrain dominated by clay and iron oxide rock, which is loosened up by gravel. The grapes are harvested at the end of September (Sangiovese). In October Malvasia Nera and Alicante follow. After fermentation at 24°C in stainless steel tanks, the "simple" Morellino of Elisabetta ripens for 8 months, mostly in steel and to a small percentage in Barrique's second fermentation.
Foodpairing for the Morellino di Scansano DOCG from Fattoria Le Pupille
We recommend this wonderful red wine from Elisabetta Geppetti for starters with strong sauces and meat dishes from the Maremma region.
