Miguel Torres Chile is the Spanish winemakers' branch in South America. The well-known Torres family of winemakers is very proud of this fact, as they were the first foreign winemakers to recognize Chile's enormous potential as a wine-growing region.
Miguel Torres - A pioneer of Chilean viticulture
Don Miguel Torres Carbó bought a winery in Maquehua in the Curicó Valley as early as 1979, making him a pioneer and flagship of Chilean viticulture. In the same year, he introduced steel tanks for fermentation in Chile for the first time.
Meanwhile, Miguel Torres Chile produces a wide range of wines in different regions of the country on selected terroirs, among others, on the vineyards of Cordillera, in the immediate vicinity of the Andes, on the sandy-volcanic soils of San Luis de Alico in San Clemente or also on the Fundo Empedrado near Constitucíon.
The grape varieties
A wide variety of grape varieties are grown in Chile by Miguel Torres. Among others:
Sauvignon Blanc
Chardonnay
Cabernet Sauvignon
Merlot
Carmenere
Miguel Torres Chile pays special attention to the preservation and reintroduction of grape varieties that were originally typical for Chile, such as País, Carignan or Muscat. For this purpose, Miguel Torres cooperates with small wineries from the region, which deliver grape material for these wines. Cordillera Carignan or Estelado Rosé belong to these wineries among others.
Portfolio of the house Miguel Torres in Chile
Miguel Torres Chile produces a wide variety of wines, increasingly also from organically grown grapes, whereby the climatic and geological conditions of Chile, in particular the alternation of hot, sunny days and cool nights ensures a splendid ripeness and aroma development of the grapes. Among other things, this leads to the creation of aromatically ripe, fruit-driven wines with clear varietal character and vital freshness.
The Las Mulas line is made exclusively from grapes from organically farmed vineyards in the Valle Central. The Santa Digna line stands for fair trade. Besides wine, Miguel Torres Chile also produces a Pisco, a brandy made of grape must, which is typical for the country and its neighbor Peru.
