Late Bottled Vintage 2016 - Taylor's Port
Prices incl. VAT plus shipping costs
The Late Bottled Vintage from Taylor's Port from the Portuguese wine-growing region DOC Douro, is an aromatic, opulent port wine from the grape varieties Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Cao.
The deep red colour of this port is reminiscent of a sparkling ruby with black-violet highlights. The nose reveals a complex, dense aroma of ripe black fruits (blackberry, black currant and elderberry) together with subtle nuances of herbs and ink as well as a fine mineral touch. Very concentrated and luxuriant - but at the same time velvety soft - with a good body this port presents itself on the palate. The dark berry fruit of the nose is reflected and accompanied in the long finish, which is accompanied by a sweet-spicy hint.
Vinification of Taylor's Port LBV
The grapes for this port are carefully harvested by hand and immediately taken to the Taylor's Port cellar. There the grapes are first stomped in Lagares and the mash is rolled sufficiently. The must is then fermented at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. As soon as half of the sugar is fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by adding high-proof distillate. This preserves the natural residual sweetness of this wine. Finally, this port is left to mature for 4 years in wooden barrels (volume 600 litres).
Food recommendation for the Late Bottled Vintage Taylor's Port
This sweet port wine goes perfectly with spicy blue cheese - such as Blue Stilton or Roquefort - and with chocolaty desserts with homemade fruit compote.
