More information

In the Australian wine-growing region of South Australia, the grapes grow for the grape-varietal, full-bodied Koonunga Hill Shiraz from Penfolds.

In the glass, this wine shines in a dense ruby red with purple highlights. The lush bouquet enchants the nose with a fruity aroma of ripe cherries and plums. Add fresh berries, floral notes, fine spices and delicately creamy vanilla. The middle body is  enveloped by ripe, juicy fruit aromas (blueberries, fruit cakes) and spicy notes (pepper and liquorice). This Australian red wine has a wonderful, balanced balance between the fullness of the fruit and the woody aromas that give this wine a very long and soft finish.

Vinification of the Koonunga Hills Shiraz Penfold

The Shiraz grapes for this red wine are harvested from selected parcels in the South Australia growing area. Arriving in the wine cellar of Penfolds, the harvested material is first fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is complete, this red wine is aged for 6 months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Shiraz Penfolds Koonunga Hills

Enjoy this dry red wine from Australia with juicy roast beef in dark sauce, lamb cart with crisp beans, spicy pasta dishes (canneloni or ravioli) or with medium-strength cheese.
