The Osso San Grato Gattinara DOCG by Antoniolo is presented in the glass ruby red with relevant garnet red nuances. On the nose opens an elegant and versatile bouquet with fruity, floral and spicy aromas, scents reminiscent of roses, violets, forest floor, quinarinds and slate. Full-bodied and engaging on the palate, robust and complex, masterfully balanced, present, fine tannins, body-rich and of dense structure with lots of potential and a long, impressive reverberation.
Vinification of the Osso San Grato Gattinara DOCG by Antoniolo
Cru Osso San Grato belongs to the Olympus of Piedmontese Nebbiolo wines, a symbol of the Gattinara wine region. 100% Nebbiolo grapes are vinified from the 5.5 hectare vineyard of the same name, which belongs almost exclusively to the Antoniolo family. The soils of this single layer are rich in porphyry and volcanic origin, the vineyard is completely south facing. The vines are on average 60 years old.
After maceration for about two weeks and alcoholic fermentation in concrete tanks, the must is transferred into wooden barrels in which malolactic fermentation and ageing take place. The wine is stored in large wooden barrels for 36 months and then in bottle storage for a further 12 months before being sold.
The Osso San Grato Gattinara DOCG can be stored for 20 to 25 years.
