La Spinetta's Gallina Barbaresco DOCG appears in the glass in vivid ruby hues, which have a purple edge. This great Nebbiolo unfolds hearty aromas of red fruits such as currants and cherries. It is rounded off with further notes of violets and roses, mocha and spices.
This red wine from Piedmont seduces on the palate with a pronounced fruit core, reminiscent of plums and currants. With a hint of tobacco, Gallina Barbaresco leads into its long finish and is accompanied by very ripe, velvety tannins.
Vinification for the Gallina Barbaresco DOCG from La Spinetta
After the grapes are harvested, alcoholic fermentation takes place for 7 to 8 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, which lasts for about 20 to 22 months. Before bottling, this red wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks for 3 months, followed by refinement in the bottle for another 12 months. No filtration or clarification takes place before bottling.
