Ferruccio Deiana, who comes from a family of winemakers, after studying oenology, first worked in many wine-growing regions of southern Italy and thus got to know many wineries and winemakers.
Wines of Ferruccio Deiana, highly prized drops from Sardinia
For years he worked as a consultant and projected many Sardinian wine cellars. It was only in 1991 - at the age of almost 45 - that he decided to turn his attention to the family winery. With the professionalism of a now experienced consultant and the passion of a typical Sardinian, he has redesigned his parents' winery from scratch, producing excellent Italian wines.
Ajana, Donnikalia, Karel and Sileno - Important names at Ferruccio Deiana
Only a few of the 35 hectares of vineyards remain from the pre-1991 era, and the old farmhouse in the middle of the vineyards was transformed into one of the most modern wineries on the entire island. Soon he was able to meet the high expectations of the Italian wine world. Initially, Feruccio Deiana still sold the first vintages in barrel, until the vines were older and the wines could meet his own, very high, standards. With his Cuvée "Ajana" (which is the colloquial form of his family name) he could inspire immediately (3 glasses Gambero Rosso for the 2002). The Vermentino "Donnikalia" and the Monica "Karel" are also among the highest rated wines on the whole island, along with the single-varietal Cannonau "Sileno".
And these are the grape varieties grown at Ferruccio Deiana:
