Felino Malbec by Viña Cobos from Mendoza, Argentina. presents itself in a strong crimson color with slightly violet and bluish nuances. White flowers and red fruit notes appear in the bouquet, along with hints of white pepper and cloves. Taste notes of chocolate and liquorice surround the palate, in the mouth it gives itself full-bodied, gently with well-integrated tannins. A balanced, elegant wine that fades in a long, soft aftertaste.
Serving recommendations and tasting tips for Felino Malbec
We recommend this fruity-spicy red Argentinian with grilled or fried beef, lamb, goat or even small game.
Cultivation and vinification of the Cobos Felino Malbec
Felino Malbec is made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the vineyards of Luján de Cuyo, Maipù and Valle de Uco, at an altitude between 700 and 1200 m above sea level. The climate in this region is dry, with little rainfall. However, the 2014-2105 wine year was a slightly more difficult year, with more rain and higher humidity than usual, so the harvest had to be started almost a month earlier than usual. The Malbec grapes were harvested between mid-March and mid-April. The fermentation was carried out on selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks, which hold between 8 and 17 tonnes, followed by bottling in February 2016 without clarification and unfiltered.
The wines of the 2015 harvest are characterised more than usual by terroir. They show elegance, medium-bodied body, fineness and low alcohol content, but at the same time vibrant, very emphasized fruit notes, aromatic fullness and acidity balanced by ash. The
Felino line by Viña Cobos
The special feature of the wines of the Felino line is their freshness and emphasized fruitiness. The grapes used for this purpose come from different vineyards in the Mendoza region and each region highlights the abundance and typical character of its grape variety. The range consists of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, wines of remarkable intensity and brilliance, carried by lively acidity and balanced and gentle tannins. They are the result of patient and lengthy work and studies by Winemaker Paul Hobbs, owner of Viña Cobos, on the terroir, on the development of other suitable vineyards and locations in the Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco region.
