Winery Dr. Hinkel - for 18 generations in Framersheim
The winery Dr. Hinkel works with great passion according to old traditions and traditional knowledge, and in doing so, they can draw on a wealth of experience, because as early as 1700, the first Hinkels brought wine into the bottle in Freimersheim in Rheinhessen. And today, in the 18th generation, this work continues. The experience of the last 300 years is a great treasure for the family, which is also constantly being expanded. And this pays off, as the winery has been regularly praised in the highest terms by the trade press in recent years. The wine magazine Selection even counts the Dr. Hinkel winery among the 50 best vintners in Germany. Dr. H inkel also made it to 14th place in the "Top 50 Germany" competition.
Winery Dr. Hinkel and nature
Sustainability plays a major role at Dr. Hinkel . As one of the first wineries in the region, they converted their cultivation to be nature-friendly: renewable resources are used, used glass is rinsed and in the vineyard, insecticides and copper-containing pesticides are not used.
The typical fining agents such as egg white, which is used to clarify the wine, are also taboo at Dr. Hinkel , the wines of the estate are vegan throughout.
The vineyards of the Dr. Hinkel estate
The vineyards of the estate are located around Framersheim in the heart of Rheinhessen.
- Kreuzweg: lies directly on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and offers soils of loess loam on which Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris thrive.
- Zechberg: gives body to the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown there with its limestone and clay marl components; the southern exposure provides ideal sunlight, which favors the ripening of the grapes.
- Hornberg: the highest site near Framersheim at 272 m above sea level, this is where Portugieser and Dornfelder take root in the soil. The lower yields form the basis of higher quality wines from Weingut Dr. Hinkel.
- Schlossberg: here in the Cool Climate site, Sauvignon Blanc grows on ferruginous soil that lends minerality to the wines.
The work in the vineyard at Dr. Hinkel
Limitation of pruning and permanent planting are fundamental principles of the work in the vineyard at the Dr. Hinkel winery. The reduction of yields serves to improve the quality of the grapes and thus ensures more aromatic, extract-rich wines. Care and manual work from the vineyard to the cellar and into the bottle are a matter of course in order to create particularly multi-faceted wines. Dr. Hinkel 's white wines are developed in a tangy, fruity style, while the red wines are given plenty of time to mature in large wooden barrels or new barriques.

- Light: wines that are fun to drink and good for every day
- Deepblue: dry site wines and sweet wines, which are vinified from low yields and have a high density and complexity
- Black Passion: the best wines of the estate. Lots of character, material from the best sites and a high storage potential for enjoyment in years to come
