The Doppio Passo Primitivo from the Apulian region of Salento is reflected in the glass in a beautiful ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet of this red wine from Italy exudes a wonderful mix of dark berries, cherries, herbs and spices.
On the palate, this semi-dry primitivo from Salento immediately appears juicy, but without this massive fleshy body, which can sometimes be exhausting. Instead, the Doppio Passo Primitivo has a great density of flavours with many facets, well-integrated tannins and a persistent, fruity finish.
Vinification of CVCB's Doppio Passo Primitivo
The Doppio Passo Primitivo by Casa Vinicola Carlo Botter retains its individuality through its production method. The special feature of this process is that after the first fermentation, the wine is again placed on the skins in order to ferment there a second time. During this „double course“ (ital. doppio passo) colour and aroma are macerated from the shells once more. The result is a wonderfully soft, full-bodied and exceptionally nuanced wine of unique flavour density.
Our verdict: "Super tasty!“
The Doppio Passo Primitivo from Casa Vinicola Carlo Botter has so far been available in retail stores in this equipment (green Bordeaux bottle with a white label) and has been supplemented since the beginning of 2017 by the Doppio Passo Rosé, the Doppio Passo Bio and upwards by the Doppio Passo Riserva. The response so far has been very promising.
