The Don Mannarone Terre Siciliane of Mánnara appears in a strong dark red in the glass.
The nose immediately reveals full-fruited aromas of ripe red berry fruit. The palate shines full of baroque opulence. Here the berry fruit flavors (especially cassis, plum, juicy blackberry and sour cherry) are echoed and complemented by the scent of Mediterranean herbs (thyme) and warm spices (vanilla, pepper).
The tannin is delicate and very fine, the acidity is excellently integrated. The finish is decidedly long and it is clear that Don Mannarone is the flagship of the winery. Here again the full berry fruit and warm spices come to the fore.
Vinification of the Don Mannarone Rosso Mánnara
Don Mannarone IGT Terre Siciliane from Mánnara is a blend of Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Syrah. The grapes grow in the western part of Sicily under the best conditions. The soil consists largely of silicate-rich clay. After gentle harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery, where they are crushed and aged separately in stainless steel and barrique barrels. After aging, the wine is cuvéed.
The Don Mannarone was named after the founder of the winery and is similar in style to the northern Italian Amarone due to its aromatic richness and the subtle but well-integrated residual sugar .
Food recommendation for the Rosso Don Mannarone
Mánnara's Don Mannarone Rosso is the ideal companion to dishes with dark meat, hearty sauces and various winter vegetables at 16-18 °C. It is also an excellent wine on its own. But it is also an excellent meditation wine on its own, which can accompany a convivial evening.
